Read All About It: Wheeler del Torro and Small Bytes in Business Insider
This Famous Chef Could Serve Up Your Next Investor
Chef Wheeler del Torro
Starting June 19, a well-known chef with a reputation for innovation is inviting the tech elite in nearly two dozen cities to gorge on gourmet food and strike up new business partnerships.
That’s the plan anyway. Chef Wheeler del Torro is famous for pop-up restaurants where people buy tickets for meals but don’t learn where the restaurant will be until the last minute.
He’s also famous for vegan ice cream, healthy soul food (yes, such a thing IS possible), and other improbably delicious fare. He’s been called the vegan Willie Wonka.
Now he’s decided to hit the road with a series of dinner parties limited to ONLY tech startup people and investors.
He’s calling the series Small Bytes (get it?) and so far he’s got over 20 cities on the schedule. The first one is in Boston on June 19 at the French Cultural Center.
He calls it “like a blind date without the fear. You’re not sure whom you will have the opportunity to meet, but the potential is there for mutually beneficial relationships.”
Why has he singled out the tech world? Because early in his career, he dated a tech entrepreneur and realized this industry was as much about getting to know people as it was about tech.
Chef Wheeler del Torro has a great reputation in the foodie blog world for his pop-up dinner parties, which are typically NOT open to the public.
The Small Bytes parties won’t be cheap. Tickets for the one in Boston will run about $350. Here’s where to find more information.
Who knows? Worst case, you get a great meal. Best case, you get funded.
